The high cost of living with cerebral palsy
Cost of equipment
The cost of living and the constant expenses that families have to meet are a real pressure. With a child with cerebral palsy these costs escalate very quickly. We all know that having Kids can be very expensive, with cerebral palsy the additional costs of medical and learning equipment are prohibitive.
To highlight this, several years ago, Jaspar got one of the first eye movement computer available. With this computer (which cost $30,000 pounds!!!) Jaspar was able to verbally communicate. He would look at common words, and the computer would say them, he would look at letters and the computer would sound them out.
The computer was stolen.
So lets give the boy a break, lets go further than a computer and give him a more effective solution, lets show him what good people can do when they all pull together...
Cost of the treatment
Jaspar requires 3 treatments in the next two years, and a further 3 treatments spread out approximately every two years. Each treatment costs 9,000 Euro (approx AUS$18,000) We expect the treatments to cost AUS$112,000 over the next 8 years.
